Další pokračování našeho seriálu pro příznivce anglického jazyka.
Nejdříve se podíváme na piknik a potom si něco povíme o počítačové klávesnici.

Reading 1 - On a picnic

A: What a lovely day !

B: Just a weather for a picnic

A: I'll pack the basket immediately.

B: Let's go down by the river, it's very quiet here.

A: Oh what a lovely spot [spot - place] ! Let's sit in the shade of this old oak tree.

B: Give me the rug and I'll spread it out [ to spread out - to cover the surface by unfolding].

A: Shall I unpack the basket ?

B: Yes, do, I'm very thirsty. I'll have a glass of orange juice before lunch.

About Computer keyboard 1


As we will work quite often with the computer, we are obliged to know something about this device. Now we will be looking at the keyboard.
In any user's manual we can read:

This instruction manual is intended for users of any keyboard. Basic knowledge of computers is sufficient to install this product.

The keyboard makes it possible you to easily and accurately input information. The keyboard is connected to your computer with cable.

First of all, check the content of the box: It should contain the following: a keyboard and an instruction manual. If anything is missing or damaged, please contact our customer center.

Safety prescriptions:
1. Do not use the device in damp environments, such as bathroom, damp basements, swimming pools etc.
2. Make sure nothing is placed on the power cable. Do not use this keyboard in an area where the cable can became worn [silné sloveso - to wear - zde znamená odřený ] of people walking over it.
3. Do not try to repair this device yourself. If you open this keyboard, you may touch live components .
4. Under the following circumstances, have the device repaired by qualified personnel:
a. The cable or the plug is damaged or worn.
b. Liquid has entered the device.
c. The device has been dropped or the case has been damaged.
5. If the keyboard must be cleaned, wipe it down using a damp cloth. Do not use the liquid cleaner or a spray.
6. Do not use the keyboard in a dusty environment. This will reduce the life span.

Installation
1. Turn the computer off.
2. Connect the keyboard's plug to the computer's connection.
3. Turn the computer on

The equipment has been certified to comply with the limits for a class B computing device. Only computers and peripherals (computer input/output devices, terminals, printers etc) certified to comply with class B limits can be attached to this keyboard. Operation with non-certified peripherals is likely to result in interference to radio and TV reception.

Now we must add some theoretical knowledge which can not be found in an user's manual :

The layout of keys differs for different languages. A normal keyboard has 104 or 105 keys. This type of keyboard is compatible with normal personal computer. The bit assignments for each key is generally shown in hexadecimal numbering system. Hexadecimal means 16 and is simply shorthand notation used to express the binary bit patterns. All keys are typematic except the PAUSE key.



For PC are in use two types of keyboard which differ by keyswitch scan codes. These are the codes transmitted by acting the key.
